Georg Gratzer and Amridan at The Blue Frog

Georg Gratzer and Amridan at The Blue Frog
Born in Graz, Austria, Georg Gratzer studied Jazz saxophone at the University for Music and Arts in Graz.

After graduating he went to New York to study with Robert Dick and Ned Rothenberg, moved to London to perform with free improvisers and to compose contemporary soundtracks for theatre performances. He explores exotic instruments while traveling, like the Chinese instruments Dizi & Hulusi, the Peruvian Zampoña as well as the Indian folk flute bansuri.

Amridan uses ingredients like classic Indian music and jazz and serve music mainly composed by themselves. The programmatic bandwidth ranges from plausible melodies and fixed forms to complex rhythm structures and free improvisation.
