Control of malaria within 8 days in Mumbai and other areas of Maharashtra, assured by Maharashtra government.
Around 17,136 cases of Malaria are reported till July 31 but the numbers are yet reaching a new peak every day.
Maharashtra health minister Suresh Shetty said the menace would be brought under control within eight days as incidents of malaria are getting deadlier for Metropolis.
Shetty informed Mumbai reporters this morning that they have taken all possible measures to control Malaria and within 8 days he promised that the disease will get in control.
The number of patients in public hospitals is more then the number of doctors and beds available, considering that, the Minister has asked private hospitals to start treatment immediately after the patient is diagnosed with malaria. They have made at least 250 extra beds available with ESIS hospitals so that no patient is turned away for want of space. Also, private practitioners have been permitted to distribute free medicines provided by the government.
Shetty also said that the BMC is regularly conducting fogging in Worli, Parel, Kurla, Byculla, Andheri, Jogeshwari and Dadar, the areas where the disease is most rampant.
The government is also following guidelines laid down by a team of the Centre which visited the city last week. And the team had recommended the civic body to do intensive monitoring of construction sites. Also, people staying near construction sites should regularly use mosquito nets, the team had suggested.
The above measures are taken hoping the Mumbai city gets control with this dreadful disease Malaria.
