1st Day: Kala Ghoda Festival (6.2.2010)

The Kala Ghoda Festival was just rocking and fire shooting at the audience of Mumbai and it is sure that all the mumbaikar's enjoyed it a lot.

Mumbai a lot to talk about this city but the main thing in the month of Febuarary is the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival which is the Mega event which is popular all around the globe for its style and making this event a successful and rocking event. The main sponsors for this event are The Times Of India and Surf Excel. This event is a long duration event from 9^th Feb – 14^th Feb 2010. The event is co-sponsored by 10 well known companies from all over India. Air-India too forwarded a helping hand for this event to make it a big one in Mumbai. Such events like Kala Ghoda are very rare or not possible to be seen in any part of India like it is celebrated in Mumbai.

This 9-Day event is with full on with workshops, screening of films, with arts and literature, dance and special workshops for children, Mumbai heritage visit for the foreigners and as well as for mumbaikar’s. On the first day of festival the heritage visit was organized by The Bombay Heritage Walks Group. Visit to Mumbai University and open-Deck bus ride was organized in the heritage visit. Theatre event on the 1^st day where included screening of movie, ‘Dance like a man’ and ‘Chakradhari Akbaarwala’. The music event which was presented by a 16-year old rapper who performed original songs for social awareness. And the group in which he was performing was ‘Sahir‘. In literature there were very informative and educative workshops conducted by well known masters in literature, workshops on writing skills, freelance Journalism, various book launches by well known writers. The film screening was also a part of the festival. Spanish, Korean, Hindi and many different languages films were screened at the Cama Hall which was a part of venue for Kala Ghoda. The 1^st day evening kicked-off with the South Africa’s Premier Interactive Drumming Company which set the stage on fire and the atmosphere in the rocking world.

Mainly the theme for this year of Kala Ghoda was mainly focused on environmental and to save our global earth. So, the stalls at the event were mainly of the man-made and home-made articles and objects which are very friendly to nature.
