The Gobbledegook of a Budget!!

Dear Mr Pranabda...awaiting your idiot proof budget

The budget is a 3D document which has multi dimensional facets looming from virtual dimensions you cannot even fathom.So what do you really do,when forget reading between the lines,something which is very esential for understanding the budget; you cannot even read the very lines written or spoken!!

A teenager echoed the popular sentiment when asked for his quote on the budget(TOI -1st March) when he said he doesnt care either ways!!Oh he does care...yes care he does and care he will, but he just doesnt know it yet!! Budget will prove his nemesis, displacing semester exams and parental curfews when he knows his cigarette habit will empty his wallet and the latest hi end phone he covets will bullet a hole through it!!Yup, shot with a silencer gun in the looming Sahara desert kinda feeling!

Dear Mr Pranabda,a humble request.As you must have found out in the research you must have done before tabling the budget --We have not reached northern levels of education as yet, a fact confirmed by the Right to Education Bill and the provision you've made to higher education.Most children in various parts of the country cannot string together a sentence without stuttering.So when you throw jargon like MAT and fiscal policies,a lot of people who are listening are busy trying to spell fiscal in their mind!I hope you understand what Im getting to.We are a straightforward speaking race.The explicit and self explanatory cuss words of our national language Hindi would tell you that!! We like our things handed on a platter -cleaned,cut,cooked and even chewed!!

While there are a bedlam of so called experts that spring up post your budget to tell us why exactly we should start having sugarless tea without even being diagnosed of diabetes;we'd prefer to hear it from the horses mouth--lines,between and all!!Dont throw MBA language at us,we are anyways fighting for the near- kill competition seats.Tell us point blank of the shocks and we will hope from our end that provisions you must have made for healthcare will pay for the following heart attacks!!

It would be great if you could even throw in the WHY bit; you know.For instance why you are increasing fuel prices when inflation is breaking Mt K2's record and how do you think it will stablilise to 5% at the end of the year!You see some great person had once said - There are no facts, only interpretations of it.So I would love to know the interpretation of your fact on our life.

So if the reason your reducing tax slabs is you want us to have money in our hands which we can then conveniently blow up and dampen the inflation monster then please do tell us so yourself.A lot of girlfriends,wives and teens will be very thankful to you.They'd no more have to convince and smuggle the money out from their provider's wallets.Shop till you drop orders from the top you see;-)
