Spirit of Mumbai
Lekin main bach gaya. True spirit of Mumbai.
Where was I on 26/11? Where were you on 26/11? So many questions but not one answer.
Last year 26/11 Mumbai went through a phase that was nothing but brutal. Unfortunately for those at CST, Taj, Nariman House and Oberoi were victims of uncalled and unforseen Terror.
One year later, as I walk through the same path, I can still feel the pain.
Many died, some survived but none forgot. There is one thing though, that still remains...
The undying spirit of Mumbai...

Mumbai - Sapno ka Shahar Yes Mumbai - a city of dreams. People call it so bcoz the city fulfills their dream. When you look at the sparkling lights that embellish the city, you feel every one out there must be enjoying their life to the fullest. In the dazzling atmosphere of Mumbai, we sometimes forget there are people whose loved ones have fallen prey to the terror activities. There are people who lost their dear ones, their dreams have been destroyed, their enthusiasm has been smashed and their life is shattered. Even with this feeling, they are facing their life, fulfilling their responsibilities and still living in the place where every mishap took place. This is called the Spirit of Mumbai. We pray that souls of all victims to the cruel demons may rest in heaven. Let us join our hands together and pledge that we will fight terrorism and will not let our Mumbaikar Spirit go down. Proud to be a Mumbaikar - Sneha Chaturvedi

Everyone takes pride to be a Mumbaikar but reluctant to talk about the issues. It's not at all the "Spirit of Mumbai" which always on track soon after any big hazardous event. We are fooling ourselves? Its a sheer "Ignorance" which puts Mumbai on fast track. Everybody are bothered about their routine life, their earning, their family. Hardly anyone are bothered whats happening around them. Mumbaikar shows urgency and concern only after something comes on them. Its really shame to all of us, and specially who claim themselves to be mumbaikars.

By Rohit Shanbhag | Nov 26, 2009 | 08:15 PM | Login to flag commentMumbai is a resilient city. It has faced bomb blasts, floods and more but its people stand strong and help the economic capital of our country roll, no matter what. Mumbai, I think, is the only city in India which provides bread and butter to almost all its residents daily. Mumbaikars know the value of time! They work hard. They may seem to ignore you but in a crisis, they invariably extend a helping hand. The spirit of Mumbai is unlike any other city and I salute it. Long live Mumbai!!!
By Saif Diwan | Nov 26, 2009 | 05:40 PM | Login to flag commentThe spirit of Mumbai is not just surviving bombs and bullets, it's more of live and let live, enduring daily commutes that are not for the weak of heart, to be professional no matter what, to reach out to people in the worst of times, to live an ordinary life in an extraordinary city...

By Prachi Wagh | Nov 26, 2009 | 02:39 PM | Login to flag commentI honestly feel that saying these words... "Spirit of Mumbai" makes some big shots and other terrorist groups take this city for granted!! "Yahan to sab chalta hai! " Yes we do have the spirit to live in a terrorized city like Mumbai so do people in Manhattan in New York if you remember 9/11 which was also a horrifying act by the terrorist and the 11 july train blasts... but that does not mean we just roll with it. So, as a civilian the best we can do is to keep ourselves alert at all times and try and help ourselves and this city keep safe and of course not to forget... clean. Guy's we live in a beautiful city just by the ocean. I wish Mumbai the very best!
By vk | Nov 26, 2009 | 02:38 PM | Login to flag commentI believe, it is always been a do or die situation for mumbaikars that gave rise to its undefeated spirit. Coming to look at it closely, a mumbaikar has no other option than to brace everything disguising his or her fears as the undying spirit.
By Piyush | Nov 26, 2009 | 02:37 PM | Login to flag commentThe phrase “Spirit of Mumbai” has become hollow now though it “sounds nice” to hear these words. The same spirit has been followed for all the terror attacks that have hit the city so far. It does take a great courage to continue with daily routine just next day after an attack like this. But people had to because no one had any other option. I agree with Hemant Tembhare to some extent - Its high time expecting anything from our government now things are needed to be taken in our own hands.

By shivalika sharma | Nov 26, 2009 | 12:59 PM | Login to flag commentThere is need to send the ’Spirit of Mumbai’ on a vacation and it should not come back unless government has taken concrete measures to protect the citizens. Lightning candles, observing silence, changing display pictures etc is not going to help, neither government nor future attackers are going to see it. Let’s come together and pressurize our government to take some strong and bold steps, this can perhaps be the first step towards the long journey that citizens of this nation need to start.

By Amarjeet Kumar Singh | Nov 26, 2009 | 12:42 PM | Login to flag commentSalute to the mumbaikar spirit is not the onlt thing that we need to do. Instead it would be good if we can contribute a little more to wards a stable and secure world around us. Its high time expecting anything from our government now things are needed to be taken in our own hands. As its said " Acchai ki shuruwat aapne ghar se karni chahiye"
