Plenty reaction but no action! - The Great Wall Project at Tulsipipe Road

Its been 48 hrs now and the Mumbai wall project still stays defaced. A lot has been said but the outcome is as good as zero. No one has bothered to remove the posters that are conveniently promoting new releases.
Sujoy Ghosh, Aladin Director, has apologized. Ritesh Deshmukh has condemned the act and rightfully called it insensitive & incorrect however, no action has been taken.
What was an attempt to beautify Senapati Bapat Marg has turned into a disaster. Over 200 artists worked really hard, in order to paint a 1.5-km stretch between Mahim & Matunga station.

Its in the news, people are talking about it and everybody has seen it. My only concern is, why is there no action?

The Road Ahead Now that he isn’t taking action against the other posters, what are we going to do? Do we just sit down and crib “this is how things are, and this is how it will be” Come on People! Bid good bye to your resigned and cynical attitude. Let’s rise up and take action. Yes, the walls might get pasted again with mindless graffiti and posters of B grade pictures. But with vigilant twitterers spying we could prove that we don’t live in a land of lawlessness. And playing with the law of the land and raping the creativity of the cities is not something that anyone would tolerate. I wish to assert that we aren’t against the movie industry or bollywood at large. We enjoy films with absolute My plan of action is as follows. 1) Write/call to the producers and the production house who look after the publicity design in most cases 1. Swadeshi Entertainment for “Canvas”, (looking for details) 2. Eros international for “Aladdin” @ + 91 (22) 40538500 email: customerservice4@erosintl.com 3. Gair (looking for details) 4. Blockbuster Movie Entertainers London dreams (info@blockbustermovieentertainers.com ) 2) Call Municipal Commissioners Shri Rajiv R. A. Additional Municipal Commissioner City Office: 2262 0809 Residence: 2368 5676 Source: http://www.mcgm.gov.in/irj/portalapps/com.mcgm.aDisasterMgmt/docs/DirectoryListMC.pdf 3) Meet on a day and rip off the posters ourselves if no action is taken. 4) Have a constant vigil by twitterers . What’s happened now, could happen again. Be the citizen Blog-Activist. 5) Speak about this, or at least, copy this blog and paste it in your web spaces… be it facebook notes, twitter docs or blogs. 6) Send this as a forward. #ProtestAgainstVandalization keep up the pace. It doesn’t matter if you participated in #TheWallProject or not. You could help your city by simply protesting. Regards, @hiyer (Aham) +919833100340 www.hiyer.net

All I keep reading is how they insist it wasnt done on purpose and how they are more than willing to repaint the wall but that doesnt fix the problem. And just a mere apology is not sufficient -- what about the time an effort these painters have put into painting the wall? Who is going to give them that back? They should be punished, fined and if not their films should be boycotted.

The pictures told us that people care. But it was such a shame to see what happened to all that effort. No words can do it justice. And apologies are just lip service.
By Surubhi Chowdhry | Oct 27, 2009 | 05:26:22 PM | Login to flag commentI feel somewhere that this might be done for publicity. You guys are twitting this, asking people to spread the word, but in return the movie makers are getting free PR. I hope they take a severe action, but I am not sure if they really care.

By Amarjeet Kumar Singh | Oct 27, 2009 | 03:16:00 PM | Login to flag commentArt was the part of the wall, until people with holes in the head came and made this stupid call. The license of these companies should be canceled. People are not mad to put in so much effort in creating such a beautiful wall.. Really shameful act by the AD companies!! Where are the authorities ?? Gone on vacation ? Or for the Movie ?
By Yogesh Waradkar | Oct 27, 2009 | 03:08:08 PM | Login to flag commentIts all about the cheap advertising these movie makers are doing. Though they have millions to spend on making movies with absolutely no sense of script and story but they dont have enough money to buy proper space on billboards to put their posters. Also pasting posters on the wall without taking necessary permissions is illegal. its also the job of the civiv authorities and the BMC, its high time they should take matters in priority and stop ignoring these issues. and start putting BAN on these type of publicity.
By Hemant Tembhare | Oct 27, 2009 | 02:42:11 PM | Login to flag commentHello we don't want their apologies. I mean, what the hell! So much of hard work and time has gone behind the painting. And its for a cause for God's sake. Boycott Ritesh Deshmukh and Sujoy Ghosh! Can we have some comment posted on their movie site?
By Saif Diwan | Oct 27, 2009 | 02:38:30 PM | Login to flag commentboycott the movies. Need to teach them a lesson.
By Amit Shanbhag | Oct 27, 2009 | 02:24:20 PM | Login to flag commentAgreed, "Not the guy who stuck the poster on, but the company that told him to do so in the first place." Alas, the way it goes here, authorities have 2 blind eyes and 2 deaf ears. I'd rather Ritesh Deshmukh and Sujoy Ghosh use their clout to have the offending Aladin posters removed. As for the other posters, the wall painters must be given the honor to these off with their own hands. The authorities are incapable of action, period.
By RC | Oct 27, 2009 | 02:01:05 PM | Login to flag commentThis is an embarrassment for the Mumbai authorities. The topic is trending on Twitter (#wallproject), the newspapers, TV stations and online media are all over it, yet we can't seem to get it taken off. Can we have a name and shame for the company responsible for this? Not the guy who stuck the poster on, but the company that told him to do so in the first place.
