Rahul Ganhi surprised everyone by changing his schedule at the last moment. He boarded a local train from Vile Parle station to Ghatkopar, thus challenging the Tigers openly. The Shiv Saikanks had promised to greet him with black flags, one could only see black commandos everywhere.
A few protesters however were arrested before his arrival

After addressing the workers of youth congress at Bhaidas Hall in Vile Parle, he headed towards Andheri railway station. He traveled from Andheri to Dadar by western railway and Dadar to Ghatkopar by Central railway. In Ghatpokar he is reported to have met a Dalit family
