World Music Meets Funk Meets Soul Meets Jazz! Blue Frog & Carlsberg Present the Launch of Richard Bona’s Album “The Ten Shades of Blues”

On February 3rd
, 2010 evening the city’s music aficionados came out in full force to Blue Frog in Lower Parel to toast Richard Bona on the launch of his new album, “The Ten Shades of Blues.”

Vocalist par excellence, bassist extraordinaire, Richard Bona’s unique blend of native African idioms and Western influences have set audiences on fire across the globe. Having wowed Indian audiences in October 2008 with two sold out performances at Blue Frog; and having recorded a part of his album, The Ten Shades of Blues at the Blue Frog Studios with Shankar Mahadevan, Bona is back in India and tonight enthralled and reconnected with his Indian fans in a power packed, sold out performance during which he played several songs from his new album. The surprise of the evening was when Shankar Mahadevan made an appearance on stage and performed a couple of numbers that they had collaborated on with Bona and his band.

The
electrifying concert was followed by a very swish after-party at the adjoining Blue Frog Studios – Grey Goose Lounge. The musician along with his band and a host of friends were welcomed to the party by Blue Frog’s Mahesh Mathai, Simran Mulchandani, Ashutosh Phatak, Dhruv Ghanekar and Sreela Chatterjee.

Guests sipped their drinks late into the night while nibbling on delicious finger foods that were rigged up by Blue Frog’s Executive Chef Mrigank Singh. The conversations for the evening all seemed to focus on the musical treat that guests had just been privy to.

Among those who came to the event this evening to congratulate Richard Bona and experience the launch of the new album were, Loy Mendonza, Shankar Mahadevan, Kunal Ganjawala and his lovely wife, Deven Kothe, Ronnie & Zarine Screwvala, Alex & Namita Kuruvilla, Tariq Ansari, Farrokh Chothia, Ekta & Ashish Raheja, Astad Deboo, Isha Shravani, Sunita Rao, Avantika Akerkar, Shehnaz Treasurywala, Payal Khandewala, Ila Arun and Sandeep Chowta, to name a few.
