Black Horse and the Cherry Tree

So you know know Kala Ghoda means "Black Horse" in Hindi (hence the title of my post) but did you know KT Tunstall's song by that name is an amalgamation of loops from her own live performances which she plays back so she can layer more on top of it? (Tech junkies: Tunstall uses an AKAI E2 headrush loop pedal to do this.) It is not an easy thing to do live, although many performers use loops in the studio, the "woo-hoo" backups are indeed KT. But why am I telling you this?
Well because I saw this fabulous fellow called Ricoloop do something similar in Goa on my last trip! (Only he was slightly more psychedelic and on an epic happy trip!) Check it out; in fact he's Ma Faiza's find and she was spinning that night at Club Fresh too, throw in some fire dancers and you've got yourself a real beach party! Hence all the ecstatic cheering and saying "all you need in life is the sand under your feet and stars above your head!" See, it all makes sense now :)

Psst! Speaking of Goa, I went back to La Plage for another spectacular meal. The thing to order is the rare tuna encrusted with roasted sesame and drizzled with a sweet soy (and for dessert the petit chocolate fondant *yum*) But guess what'll really make you drool ladies? The dishy French owner Morgan who's very hands on with the service (er... that came out a lot more risque than intended, but a girl can dream can't she?!) At any rate he's got that rough-around-the-edges movie star vibe and the bluest eyes ever!

I did see KT Tunstall do that live at a concert, but the best use of the loopbox I have seen till date has surprisingly been at the blue frog the other night when Richard Bona was in town.
