I had the pleasure of watching "This Is It" today.
I think it was one of the most incredible movies I've seen. It was a totally satisfying...almost a deep emotional experience for me today.
Here's the even more brilliant thing about my movie experience today.
I knew right away that the only way to see this movie was in the IMAX Dome. Its the only way to do justice to the man, the music and the experience of this movie. I was not wrong in that assumption. I truly believe that the ONLY way to really enjoy this movie is in the dome.
So yeah, I booked my tickets in advance thinking that it would be packed and stuff...and here like I said, is the most brilliant part of the day.
I bought 2 Premium seats, the best seats possible in the house. There are 5 rows of such seats...and today...me and my companion were the ONLY two people in these seats.
I think the theatre can house about 500-600 people and there were just 6 people in the WHOLE theater!!! It boggled the mind. I mean what the f**k! Crap movies have more people in a theater than this. A movie as good as the one I saw today should have people waiting in line outside to get in but well...there were just 6 people.
And we couldn't even see the other 4 people.
So as far as I was concerned, it was almost as though I had the WHOLE theater to myself.
Believe me when I say this. Its an INCREDIBLE experience when you think that the whole theater is just for you :)
I was singing along with the songs at the top of my voice and I knew it wouldn't bother a soul.
It was like being in a concert.
The movie is basically his rehearsal tapes and practice sessions for the series of live shows that he was supposed to do in London this year. The songs take you through the best of his catalogue and the experience of seeing the man in what could almost be considered one of the best times of his life is surreal. When I think about what must have gone, what is probably still going on in the minds of the selected dancers who were to dance with him on stage, it breaks my heart. You see these young men and women, the best at what they do, come from all over the world to dance with him. You can see that its not about the money...its about the joy of saying that...they were there. They were a part of history. To have that almost taken away...it truly saddens you. But then this movie...This Is It...is in some small way a great gift to those men and women and I think to all the millions of his fans who missed out the opportunity of seeing him on stage once again.
Watching this movie is like watching him live. It's possibly better in some ways. You feel closer to him than you ever could in a packed concert. It was as I said before, an incredibly moving experience for me. I hope that you all can have that experience too...and very soon! :)
This Is It...was...absolutely positively BRILLIANT!
For the love of god, music and everything good...do go and watch the movie right away!

I loved MJ This is It. Watching it from the beginning where it all started. The day he said that he was taking his tour around the world and making it the greatest music tour of all time in his career. All the hard work from the producers, dancers, performers, and all else in detail was so magnificent to watch. Watching a great perfomer do his magic on stage and take in every detail that took 2 years in the making or so. Seeing the incredible icon singing his songs from the past years to present was beautiful. Now that he is gone he left behind a great legacy and though he may not be here standing on this earth he is still with us in his music and spirit.
