The MJ Show!!! What is it? Where is it? How do you get it?! Answers...here!

For those of you (and I'm guessing that could be a large number of people:) )who may not know, I've been a radio jockey in Mumbai for over 5 years. I spent 5 years playing music on All India Radio's FM Rainbow (107.1MHz) and then I was with 94.3Radio One for a few months. The reason I got into radio was because I LOVE music. My shows on radio were always about music. I never talked much and what little I did, it was about the songs that I was playing.

I always said that "One should never be a genre specific fan. One should be a good music fan and find that good music in every genre." Because I truly believe that's there great music to be found in just about every genre that exists in the world.
With that in mind, my radio shows never stuck to just one theme or genre. I played everything from oldies to jazz standards to jazz to blues to country to dance music to pop and of course, I played a lot of rock!

I quit radio a few months ago for a couple of reasons. a)Radio One, where I was last working decided to move into primarily the hindi direction and b)I was looking at moving into the visual medium. I'm still looking at doing that. Hoping to get started with TV in some way...soon.
Now doing that takes time, quite a bit of time as I can see it :)

And while this transition is taking place I'm been missing being on radio a lot. A LOT. I miss playing my favourite songs for people...sharing the music...the stories...and getting the feedback I used to get.
I miss you all. All the regular fans and listeners. I really really do :)

And though I'm not getting back on radio anytime soon (unless someone starts playing english music again and asks me to come back on to do my shows:) )...I thought I'd do the next best thing.
Every night...or as often as possible, I am going to sit up at home and listen to the songs I might have shared with you that night.

Hence...I came up with The MJ show for the online english music lovers! :) For a change I'm dropping the "Musicman" moniker out of the show name and letting you see plain ol' Mihir Joshi. I did what I did because I loved the music. "Musicman" was a gimmick that came about to help you all remember me on radio. I think its been around long enough. It'll still be there...but I'm quite happy just being Mihir Joshi too :)

I started off by posting The MJ Show on my blog http://musicmanmihir.blogspot.com/ soon to be renamed www.musicmanmihir.in (Much simpler isn't it?) but now, it gives me great pleasure to bring The MJ Show to Mumbaikar.com!!!

So here it is boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen and other creatures enjoying the joys of the internet.

Here begins...The MJ Show!
