Kala Ghoda Festival - Political Art
Kala Ghoda's hidden politics...

Kala Ghoda Festival is to show case the art and talent of all the artists. It may be in the form of art, paintings, music, dance etc.
Paintings form a major part of the Kala Ghoda art extravaganza. Even before the festival starts at the Jehangir Art Gallery, the painters put up their paintings on the pavement outside. Simply because its cheaper.
Surprisingly every one prefers the art gallery, but how we wish life was so easy....So what's the difference in these paintings outside on the pavement and in the gallery? No it's not the quality of art, in fact some of the paintings outside even exceed the one's inside the ''gallery''.
Why do the paintings in the gallery fetch lakhs of rupees and the one's outside manage to get a paltry few hundreds? It's due to the lack of funds and before you can blame it on destiny there are a few things that need mention like 'power', 'contacts', and 'politics'.
Yes to some extent its true, if the painters have contacts or influences he/she may get a stall inside and clearing the selection panel becomes a cake walk. This is the reality....art is something that sets the mind free , it brings out the ''you'' , it showcases your talent.....all these things are good to speak and hear, but thats not the case.... and finally, with politics entering art how can one be free?
