Getting Started

Click the App Store badge above to go to the downloads page. Download the Mumbaikar app to your computer, and then sync with your iPhone to install.
Alternatively, download the app directly to your iPhone.
- Step 1:
- Launch the App Store.
- Step 2:
- Tap the Search tab at the bottom of the screen.
- Step 3:
- Tap in the search field and search for Mumbaikar.
- Step 4:
- Tap Mumbaikar, then tap the Purchase button. Enter your iTunes Store account password, and let the app download to your iPhone.

- Step 1:
- Launch Mumbaikar on your iPhone.
- Step 2:
- Tap the More button at the bottom.
- Step 3:
- Tap About. The version cum release number is displayed at the top.

If you are not registered already, use the app to do so. Registration allows you to post comments, assign ratings, emails links, and use other such functions.
- Step 1:
- Launch Mumbaikar and wait for the Settings screen to appear.
- Step 2:
- Tap Login to go to the login screen.
- Step 3:
- Tap the Register tab.
- Step 4:
- Enter details, and then tap the Register button at the top-right.

When you launch the Mumbaikar app for the first time, you'll need to login to be able to post comments, assign ratings, emails links, etc. However, you can browse without logging in.
- Step 1:
- Launch Mumbaikar and wait for the Settings screen to appear.
- Step 2:
- Tap Login to go to the login screen.
- Step 3:
- Enter your email and password, and then tap the Login button a the top-right.

Main buttons are located at the bottom navigation area and you can control the buttons to display at the bottom and to change their order.
- Step 1:
- Tap the More button at the bottom.
- Step 2:
- In the More screen, tap Edit at the top-right.
- Step 3:
- In the Configure screen, drag a button to add to the main navigation, and then drop it at the bottom.
- Step 4:
- When you have dropped the required buttons, tap buttons at the bottom and drag them to change the order.
Note: The location of the More button is fixed at the bottom-right and you cannot change it. - Step 5:
- When you have finished, tap Done at the top-right.

- Step 1:
- Tap the Directory icon at the bottom.
- Step 2:
- Tap a category to display the list of establishments/services in that category. Each item on the list contains a thumbnail picture, a brief summary and a star rating (if available).
- Step 3:
- Tap an item to display details.
- Step 4:
- In the details screen, use the Back button at the top-left to return to the list or use the arrow-head icons at the bottom to browse each item.
- Step 5:
- To display the item on the map, tap Show on map.

- Tap Events at the bottom.
- Step 2:
- Tap a category to display the events list. Each item on the list contains a thumbnail picture, a brief summary and a star rating (if available).
- Step 3:
- Tap an item to display details.
- Step 4:
- In the details screen, tap the event name to display a summary.
Tap Location to display location details like name, address, contact numbers.
Tap Show on map to display the event on the map.

- Step 1:
- Tap Blogs at the bottom.
- Step 2:
- The blogs list displays. Each blog on the list contains a title and a brief summary, a thumbnail picture, and number of comments (if available).
- Step 3:
- Tap a blog on the list to display the blog screen.

- Step 1:
- Tap Incidents at the bottom.
- Step 2:
- Tap an incident category to display the list incidents in that category. Each item on the list contains a thumbnail picture, a brief summary and a star rating (if available).
- Step 3:
- Tap an incident to display details.
- Step 4:
- On the details screen, tap the incident name to display the full report.
Tap Show on map to display the incident on the map.

Map mode is one of highlights of Mumbaikar in addition to being a very useful feature. Map mode works on a combination of geotagging and GPRS. Presently availably only for Directory and Incidents, map mode displays all items in a directory/incident category or subcategory (e.g., Restaurants > Chinese or Incidents > Thefts) on the map. You can get details about individual items and see items in your current location.
- Step 1:
- Go to Directory or Incidents.
- Step 2:
- Tap a directory/incident category to display listings under that category.
- Step 3:
- On the list, tap Map Mode (the pin icon) at the top-right to display a Google map with red pins for items in the listing screen.
- Step 4:
- Tap a pin to display a popup containing the establishment name and address/incident summary.Tap the arrow on the popup to display the establishment/incident.
Tap the popup to close and return to the map. - Step 5:
- To display your current location on the map, tap Locate me at the top. Wait a few seconds for the transparent blue circle to appear, and then the blue dot to settle down on your current location.
- Step 6:
- Tap Update Search at the top to refresh the search and display results in your current location.
- Step 7:
- Now that you see establishments/incidents in your location, you can narrow the list further to specific sub-categories (e.g., Chinese or Italian in Restaurants or Thefts in Incidents). Tap Filter (the funnel icon) at the top.
- Step 8:
- In the Filter screen, the selected category is already displayed. Tap it to list the sub-categories. Next, tap a sub-category to select it and return to the Filter screen.
- Step 9:
- Tap Save to return to the map with updated results.

The 'Filter' feature is available in Directory and Incidents. It allows you to narrow a category list to display items only for a selected location. Use Filter to directly instantly and easily locate specific establishments and services or incidents from an entire category instead of manually browsing the category.
- Step 1:
- Tap Directory or Incidents at the bottom.
- Step 2:
- In the category screen, tap the category to filter.
- Step 3:
- On the list, tap Filter (the Funnel icon) at the top.
- Step 4:
- In the Filter screen, the selected category is already displayed. Tap it to list sub-categories (available only for Directory). Next, tap a sub-category to select it and return to the Filter screen.
- Step 5:
- Tap Location.
- Step 6:
- Tap a region, e.g., Central Suburbs, Western Suburbs.
- Step 7:
- Tap a location, e.g., Andheri if you selected Western Suburbs.
- Step 8:
- At any time, tap the Reset button at the bottom to clear your selections or tap Cancel at the top to return to the category list.
- Step 9:
- When you have finished, tap Save at the top-right.

Mumbaikar supports two types of search—Global search and Category search. Global search searches all content and category search looks up content in a specific category. The category search is available in Directory, Events and Incidents.
To use global search:
- Step 1:
- Tap Search at the bottom.
- Step 2:
- Tap in the search field, and enter a keyword.
Note: You may see an auto-suggest in some instances. Tap a suggestion to include it in the search field. - Step 3:
- Press the Search button at the bottom.
- Step 4:
- The search results display blog posts, events and directory listings in groups. Each item in a group has a colored label for easy identification. e.g., directory lists are indicated by a green-colored LISTING label.
- Step 5:
- Tap an item to go to the details screen.
To use category search:
- Step 1:
- Go to a list in directory, events or incidents.
- Step 2:
- Tap in the search field at the top, and enter a search keyword.
Note: You may see an auto-suggest in some instances. Tap the auto-suggested word to include it in the search field. - Step 3:
- Press the Search button at the bottom.
- Step 4:
- The search results display blog posts, events and listings in groups. Each group has a colored label for easy identification. e.g., directory lists are indicated by a green-colored LISTING label.
- Step 5:
- Tap an item to go to the details screen.

You can simultaneously post a comment and assign a rating to a directory listing or event.
- Step 1:
- Go to a details screen in directory or events.
The details screen is displayed when you browse a category screen, and then click an item for further details. - Step 2:
- Scroll to the bottom and tap No comments (this appears only if no comments are posted). Alternatively, tap X (number) comments.
- Step 3:
- If you are the first one to comment, you will see a message. Click the + sign at the top-right to go to the comments screen.
- Step 4:
- To assign a rating, tap the star(s) next to Rating at the top.
- Step 5:
- Enter your comment, and then tap Submit at the top-right.

Comments and ratings are available only for directory and events.
- Step 1:
- Go to a details screen in directory or events.
The details screen is displayed when you click an item in the listing screen. - Step 2:
- Scroll to the bottom and tap X (number) comments. Comments and ratings are displayed in a list.
- Step 3:
- Click an item on the list for details.

You can email a directory listing or event and share it with others.
- Step 1:
- Go to a details screen in directory or events.
The details screen is displayed when you browse a category screen, and then click an item for further details. - Step 2:
- Tap the popout icon at the bottom.
- Step 3:
- From the buttons that appear, tap Email this link.
- Step 3:
- In the Email screen, enter the email address(es) in the To field.
- Step 3:
- When you have finished, tap Send at the top-right.

- Step 1:
- Go to a details screen in directory or events.
The details screen is displayed when you browse a category screen, and then click an item for further details. - Step 2:
- Tap the popout icon at the bottom.
- Step 3:
- From the buttons that appear, tap View in browser. Wait for the item to open in your preferred browser.

You can add content that you like to your favourites.
- Step 1:
- Go to a details screen in directory or events.
The details screen is displayed when you browse a category screen, and then click an item for further details. - Step 2:
- Tap the favourites icon at the bottom to add.
- Step 3:
- Tap the icon again to remove.
You can view your favourites in More > Bookmarks

- Tap the More button at the bottom.
- Step 2:
- In the More screen, tap Bookmarks.
- Step 3:
- In the favourites list, tap a favourite to display the details screen.

- Step 1:
- Tap the More button at the bottom.
- Step 2:
- In the More screen, tap Settings.
- Step 3:
- Tap Clear Cache.

- Tap the More button at the bottom.
- Step 2:
- In the More screen, tap Settings.
- Step 3:
- Tap Logout.
